My story begins while recovering from chest surgery to correct the Pectus Excavatum (sunken chest) I was born with. Before the Pectus Excavatum diagnosis, years were filled with unexplainable chest pain, discomfort, inconclusive testing, and being told I just needed to take medications. I lost my faith in the medical field's ability to improve (or care about) not only my physical health + wellness, but my emotional health. I received a correct diagnosis in the ER one afternoon, shining a light on the confusion. The correction is to insert a stainless steel bar through the chest wall and leave it there for 3 years. This meant the ability to fully take a deep breath for the first time in my life, but it also came with a limited ability to twist, lift, or sleep without painful pinching and soreness. I realized during this inactive time post-surgery how much food had an influence on my energy. After being a competitive dancer for almost 20 years, I had no idea how to work out and was so used to over eating without having to worry about how it might affect my body. I didn't know how to stay at a healthy + comfortable weight. My dream to become a physician's assistant changed into the desire to help individuals improve their health using whole foods, self-awareness, and personal development. I decided to follow this goal and move across the country to California to attend nutrition school. I was not only able help others as a nutritionist, but I also found consistency with my own health + wellness routine. I was able use this opportunity to start helping others create a healthy lifestyle. I know that staying firm in my belief that something was wrong and having the perseverance to understand the cause is what brought me to this incredible adventure. It is with teaching these things that I am able to help others start their journey to optimal health + wellness. Take the leap, I'm here to help.
